Metropolitan Police Website. \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nA rise in crimes reported in the District of Colombia reached 35,000 in 2013 compared to 32,000 reported in 2012. This is shown in the data collected by D.C.gov in 2013. Questions arise whether the Second District, being one of the top three districts with the highest crimes reported is safe for its community.<\/p>\n<p>The number of crimes reported in this district equaled 5,387 crimes naming it one of the top three districts with high levels of crimes reported. This district comes third in the ranking after the First District with 5,977 crimes and the Third District \u00a0with 6,005 crimes reported, claiming the title for the district with the most crimes reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Below &#8211; Graph 1.1 consists of data on the number of crimes reported in D.C. Districts. This graph shows that the First, Second and Third districts are ranked as the districts with the highest rate of crimes reported.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-995 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/comm621.digitalnewsroom.org\/2016\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Screen-Shot-2016-09-20-at-00.17.51.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-09-20-at-00-17-51\" width=\"814\" height=\"498\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The three major crimes committed in this district were Theft\/Other (57.1%), Theft F\/Auto (25.4%) and Burglary (7.9%).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-996 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/comm621.digitalnewsroom.org\/2016\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Screen-Shot-2016-09-20-at-00.18.11.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-09-20-at-00-18-11\" width=\"749\" height=\"461\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Above &#8211; Graph 1.2 consists of data on types of crimes committed in the Second District.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of the crimes occurring\u00a0in this district were identified by the Metropolitan Police Department occurred during their evening and morning shifts. The highest number of crimes reported in the evening were 1,586 Theft\/Other crimes reported and 1,254 Theft\/Other crimes reported during the day shifts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-997 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/comm621.digitalnewsroom.org\/2016\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Screen-Shot-2016-09-20-at-00.18.51.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-09-20-at-00-18-51\" width=\"1045\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Above &#8211; Graph 1.3 shows the numbers of crimes reported during the Metropolitan Police shifts in the Second District.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The community that lives in the Second District hopes for\u00a0more safety to come in the following years from the D.C.
